11/5/17 Evening Islamorada Bonefish Fishing Report

Capt. Richard Stanczyk Sr. got out with Rich Hastings this evening for a little stake up bonefish fishing.  They had gorgeous conditions with things warming back up into the mid 80s during the last few days and water temperatures back in the high 70 range.  Very light northeasterly breeze… a perfect recipe for good fishing!  They fished shrimps out on the edges of the flats and landed 4 bonefish and Rich also got his first permit as well!  It doesn’t get any better then that.  The weather looks to be staying fairly warm for the foreseeable future so if anyone is wanting to try their hand at some stake up fishing this week, it could be a great time.

10/24/17 Bonefish and Permit in Islamorada in October

Capt. Richard Stanczyk Sr. got out with friends Ron Modra and MB Roberts the other night.  More good fishing was had and they landed several bonefish and got a couple permit as well!  The evening falling tide late afternoon in Islamorada gave them some good conditions.  Stake up fishing is where it’s at especially as the water temperatures cool.  If you just want to catch one this is the way to go… don’t have to worry about the pressure of casting to a fish you may only get one or two shots at.  Leave that to the seasoned anglers 🙂 October bonefish fishing in Islamorada has been good.  We are getting some cold weather this week which could make the stake up fishing even better, especially before the front.  Right afterwards sometimes the water is a little too cold, but it shouldn’t be dropping too much during these fronts.  And that usually means the bonefish are scourging around feeding!

October Bonefish Fishing in Islamorada

Capt. Richard Stanczyk Sr. has been on the bonefish as of late.  They caught 8 the other night with his friend Vinny Bob.  Soaking shrimp on the flats of Islamorada was the ticket.  A beatiful evening on the water!  Fall is a great time for bonefish fishing as the water levels get extra high and the fish push far up on to the flats.  This past year the bonefishing has gotten a lot better, we are seeing more numbers than we have in probably close to 10 years!  A few nights before that with Stephen Byrd, Richard Sr. put Stephen on a 35 lb permit as well as as bonefish.  What a special fish the permit was!  Again dead bait fishing was the trick.  October bonefish action can be great in the early morning or later afternoon/evening.  If you are looking to give it a try give me a shout.  I myself don’t do many bonefish charters but I can refer you to some guides who specialize in it.

September Islamorada Bonefish

September is here and the Fall usually means good bonefishing!  Islamorada bonefish love this time of year.  The temperatures slightly begin to cool off so fish are much more comfortable especially up in shallow water.  Also this time of year brings what we call the ‘big water’ which is just an abnormally higher tidal level.  Through October we will often have an extra foot or so of water on the flats.  This means fish go much further up on the flats and stay there for much longer sometimes never leaving as they don’t have to.  If your thinking of doing some bonefishing, this is a good time of year to try!  Capt. Richard Stanczyk Sr. was out for fun last week during the evening.  He released 6 bonefish dead bait fishing on the hard, high incoming tide on the oceanside of Islamorada!  Let me know if your interested in trying some bonefishing!

June islamorada bonefish information

Do you want to catch that dream bonefish in islamorada?  The summer time can be a great time for catching big florida keys bonefish.  Early mornings and late in the afternoon are often though to be the optimum times, depending on tides and such of course.  The bonefish feed on shrimps and crabs pretty good, but are also ever-eager to take a well presented fly.  If your thinking of an islamorada bonefish guide to take you on a charter, drop me a line.  I can put you in touch with some of the best florida keys bonefish charter operators located in the area.  I myself don’t spend much time doing it though I work with several professional outfits that do bonefishing for a living.  They are one of the most highly sought after gamefish we have in Islamorada, and on that same note one of the toughest to catch these days as well!  While the fishing is a bit more difficult than it was 20 years ago, there are still very large bonefish to be had on our flats.  I can hook you up with the guides that know where they live!

Islamorada Bonefish Information

Islamorada bonefishing is one thing every angler should experience in his life!  Chances are if you are here, your investigating bonefish fishing in Islamorada.  Islamorada is known as a valhalla of bonefishing of sorts – some of the biggest bonefish in the world have been caught here.  While they are not easy to catch, they are lots of fun.  Unlike the bahamas and some other areas, we don’t get the big mudding schools where you can catch them every cast.  We get a lot of larger fish that push up on the flats, tail in lower water, and can be one of the spookiest fish you’ve ever encountered.  Bonefish are unforgiving – the slightest mistake and you’ve blown your shot!  To catch one sight fishing it takes a lot of teamwork between guide and angler.  Put a fly rod in the equation and you’ve got yourself one of the most difficult achievements there is – an islamorada bonefish on fly.  I work with some of the best islamorada bonefish guide boats that you’ll find in the Florida Keys.  I don’t do much bonefishing myself, aside from occasional stake-up fishing when conditions are right.  Charter wise you want to fish with somebody who specializes in this type of fishing and does it often.  Many guides nowadays focus on the backcountry, gulf, tarpon, etc…  There are not the number of bonefish in Islamorada that their was 20 years ago, so you need somebody who is out there at least a couple times every week keeping up with where to find the schools. A December islamorada bonefish trip can be productive, though it depends on the weather.  If it is very cold, fishing may be tough, overall with the lower water temperatures you’ll want to focus more on mid-day when the water will be warmest.  Let me assist you with your next islamorada bonefishing charter!
